On August 13, 2025, Wayne County Community Schools proved that collaboration is powerful. For the first time, nearly every school district in the county hosted a Community Schools Family Engagement Night — 9 fun-filled, resource-rich events, all on the same evening.
Whether they served hot dogs, pizza, or ice cream, each school district in the county participated with a celebration of our communities. Family fun mixed with information about resources available to families and individuals. New friendships were made. Old connections were strengthened. And everyone learned just what makes each of our communities unique and such great places to live, work, and raise a family.
Lyons had popcorn and a movie; Red Creek brought in trucks and heavy equipment, character visits, and free books; Newark staged a mini festival, complete with face painting, games, a dunk tank, and free bicycle helmets; Pal-Mac opened their playground and gym and also held field games to name a few.
It wasn’t a competition. But, if it were, the North Rose-Wolcott School District would have walked away with the award for Most Inventive Activity Night.
Community Schools Family Engagement Night: A Cruise on Sodus Bay
On Tuesday, August 13th, North Rose-Wolcott families gathered for a special Community Schools Family Engagement Night. This memorable evening gave families the opportunity to connect, relax, and enjoy a unique experience together aboard the historic Rose Lummis.
The cruise along beautiful Sodus Bay provided a perfect backdrop for conversation, laughter, and community building. Families not only enjoyed the scenic views, but also the chance to spend quality time with one another outside of their everyday routines.
A special thank you to North Rose-Wolcott Central School District, Pier 53, Save Our Sodus, and Don Riling for helping make this event possible. Their support and collaboration ensured a truly memorable evening for all who attended.
