Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; 2 year’s related experience and/o training preferred.

  • Must be able to actively listen.

  • Able to maintain safe environment.

  • Basic computer skills to utilize Microsoft Teams for team communications.

  • Ability to generate case notes specific to the progress of individual youth and log them.

  • Maintain confidentiality and understand how to navigate systems appropriately.

  • Learn skills associated with jobs to teach youth (example: how to weigh items on a scale, how to paint, how to hang drywall)

  • Coach youth in developing self-awareness, problem solving skills and breaking down larger goals into smaller steps.

  • Identify areas of common struggle in cohorts of youth and recognize opportunities to use curriculum like Why Try or Mind Matters to build skills.

  • Able to work with individuals and small groups and utilize Community Circles and other restorative discussion/interaction tools to build community and attachment.

  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with School Liaison to access school records. 

  • Maintain communication with the worksite supervisors to assure fit for STEADY work placements and help facilitate growth through optimal placement.  

  • Utilize Microsoft Teams to coordinate transportation and other supportive services needs. 

  • Seek support from Community Connector and School Liaison to maintain awareness of unique opportunities and supports within each community, including STEADY Work Mentors and STEADY Work Points of Contact who will know the challenges youth are facing. 

  • Collaborate with Community Coordinator to obtain community-based worksites as needed. 

  • Connect with new businesses to increase awareness of Steady Work program. 

  • Coordinate with Worksite Supervisor to ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly.
