STEADY Work Assistant Community Coordinator

To increase the capacity of the STEADY Work program. Position will cater to specific needs of youth interest, manage relationships between other branches of the STEADY Work program and Community Schools work, and raise awareness of the STEADY Work program within the community.

Requirements

  • Must be able to help people work together and share a common vision.

  • Must be anchored to the idea that work is not the end result, but a vehicle to the end result and able to coach that concept for other members.

  • Responsive to calls and deadlines, the coordinator must be able to anticipate what will work best in a specific community.

  • Written communication should be solid, but the real emphasis is on verbal communication and use of social media to communicate.

  • Must be able to help people with different personalities come together.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar life experience preferred.

  • Good oral and telephone communication skills.

  • Basic math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

  • This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must have basic knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    mpathy is critically important. Community Coordinators must be able to get everyone to understand other people’s situations (ex: Business needs high quality; youth need chances to learn by making mistakes) and find a balance.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Seek feedback from Worksite Supervisors and Business Owners regarding the progress of STEADY Work youth and reduce/resolve obstacles as necessary. 

  • Collaborate with Business Owners and Worksite Supervisors to maintain accurate attendance records.

  • Collaborate with Job Coaches to analyze specific youth needs.  

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with business owners and community organizations. 

  • Collaborate with the School Liaisons to stay current with available support services provided by the school district. 

  • Collaborate with the Community Connector(s) to stay current with community resources (ex, food pantry) and community events.  

  • Communicate specific youth concerns with Point-of-Contact and STEADY Work Director. 

  • Maintain routine communication with Business Owners, Job Coaches, School Liaisons, and Worksite Supervisors to stay current with employment and training opportunities available within and outside of the community. 


Tasks:

- Daily: 

  • Tasks that support the Community Coordinator. 

  • Make connections with local businesses and educate them on the STEADY Work program and its benefits to the community. This also includes securing new community-based worksite opportunities for our youth.  

  • Attend meetings and interviews with youth at potential worksites. 

  • Assist youth in finding and applying to employment opportunities.

  • Assist youth with referrals to outside agencies (ex, Wayne Behavioral Health).  

  • Look for opportunities within the community that match the interest and goals of the youth participants. 

  • Help resolve issues at STEADY Work worksites and community-based worksites as they occur. 

  • Complete worksite contracts with businesses registering as new community-based worksites. 

  • Routine check-ins with Worksite Supervisors regarding youth attendance and progress. 

  • Daily morning check-ins on Microsoft Teams.   

- Weekly: 

  • Maintain work schedules. 

  • Collect and submit weekly timesheets for youth participating on worksites.

  • Ensure timesheets are recording accurately including both the youths and worksite supervisors’ signatures.

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all available worksites in the community including both Steady Work and community-based worksites. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of community resources and community events. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of school resources.  

- General: 

  • Support central administrative efforts through shared ownership of details. 

  • Participate in Team meetings and professional development as scheduled.
